Hello and welcome to our monthly OBBC newsletter, where we will be updating you on all things OBBC from sales to shop events, local happenings and of course give updates on swells past, present and future! We are stoked and we hope you are too!
For our first installment what better way then to showcase OBBC owner, surfer and shaper Lynn Shell. His surfboard label 'Shell Shapes' comes direct to us from the Foamworx factory in Currituck, NC. Foamworx is a performance board shaping and glassing company that is owned and operated by US Navy veteran Matthew Tatum. Lynn and Matt work together to craft Keahana foam blanks on the state of the art and ultra precise AkuShaper cnc machine. The Keahana foam blanks are a game changer EPS foam technology. Coupled with the tailor made gravity glassing technique it creates a stronger, lighter, and more flexible surfboard than older PU technology. With the precision of the AkuShaper software and their over 50 combined years of experience, Shell Shapes and Foamworx boards are top tier high end surfboards made locally on the Outer Banks. The Mashup is finally here! You may have seen the pre-orders available on our website, well they have arrived in the states and we are awaiting our shipment to the store any day now. Just in time for summer. The mashup is the highly anticipated daily groveler style board made by two legend in the industry, Dan Mann and Rob Machado. It blends all the best elements from the popular Spitfire and Seaside models creating the perfect all arounder.
