"TECHNOGRAIN represents a significant step forward towards the holy grail of any product designed and manufactured in today's environmentally conscious world. While by no means sustainably built, Firewire's TECHNOGRAIN has by far one of the least toxic and smallest carbon footprints of any commercially available surfboard today.

Grant Newby, a talented Australian craftsman first turned us on to the potential of this construction, and following his lead, our internal R&D and production crew worked tirelessly to make this tech possible in a production setting. Building one-offs or small quantities is one thing (and not to be discounted), but it took a tremendous effort to overcome all the issues that arose as we tweaked the original recipe to increase performance and build reasonable quantities. Of course having our own vertical factory was a huge help.

The combination of a lightweight EPS core, sustainably-grown wood deck skins, Firewire's proprietary parabolic rail construction, and anEntropy bio-resin hot coat yield an extremely lightweight, durable surfboard with ALL of the high performance flex characteristics of Firewire's existing technologies. Even more impressive, the physical properties of the raw materials involved have allowed us to remove exterior fiberglass, furthering the reduction of the board’s carbon footprint. Or as we like to describe TECHNOGRAIN, it's simply High Performance Art."

What this means for you, lucky reader, is that we have a bunch of NOS (New Old Stock) Firewire's with Gore Tex valves that we are discounting.  These are great boards at great prices.  The photos are of each individual board, so you know exactly what you are getting.

OBBC also has established a Youtube.com Channel that has been an outlet for alot of great video updates on some of the events we've hosted, some how-to/help videos, and then some that are just a little ridiculous, but we couldn't resist.  We plan to expand on this and hopelfully get a lot more videos up that you all will find both helpful and entertaining

Surf Night the 3rd

This Tuesday, July 17th will be the 3rd Surf Night of the summer at Lucky 12 Tavern!  We are stoked that Electric Visual sent us some more sunglasses from the Loveless Collection and the new Mags by Trouble Andrew to raffle off.  The Delimiters will be coming to play again and we can't wait!

This has been a very successful event thus far and we are so excited to be able to help host it again.  We can't wait to see everyone out there!

Firewire Launches the
White Rapidfire Technology

A product of continued research and development, the White
Rapidfire (RF) construction substitutes a PVC-free and VOCfree
composite deck skin for the original bamboo inlay
characteristic of our initial RF technology.

This composite maintains the overall flex and
durability of the board giving it the same great RF ride with a
fresh new appearance.

Rapidfire was originally created in conjunction with Surfboard
Suspension Systems, incorporating a core shaped from 1.5lb fused EPS foam and a bamboo skin applied
using Firewire's proven sandwich construction techniques.

The result is a lightweight, high performance build with a highly durable deck and an incredibly
lively flex response.

The new White Rapidfire mimics the high performance of the original ‘bamboo’ RF
tech, while boasting environmentally responsive materials and a totally different
aesthetic.

Initially this technology will be offered in the following shapes: the Alternator,
Hellrazor, Hellfire, Dominator, Spitfire and Sweet Potato.

“Firewire believes that refinements to the shape of today’s modern surfboards can only
produce incremental performance benefits. Exponential improvements in performance
require the ongoing development of new materials and construction methods which, in
turn, will fuel new design opportunities.”

"Never having personally owned a GoPro, but always having friends who used them for downhill skating, I was pumped to finally purchase one last week.  I picked up the GoPro Hero 2 from OBBC, I immediately took it to the beach and started playing around with mounting it on a boogie board, a surfboard and a skim board.  The ruggedness of both the camera and the included mounts came to light right after the first wipe out of the skim board.  The camera and suction cup mount were dragged through the sand and pumped by the shore break and no damage was inflicted.  This alone was impressive, however it didn’t end there. When I got back to the house and uploaded the footage to my computer, it was so clear and such great quality!  Needless to say I’m addicted and can’t wait to get more footage and start splicing together some sweet videos."
